Strip UTM and tracking parameters, comment and moderation params, and noisy comment hashes from thousands of URLs in one paste. Optionally deduplicate the output so your list is clean before it costs you credits.
Who it’s for
- Link builders cleaning a backlink list before spending index credits on it.
- SEOs normalizing URL exports from GSC, analytics, or a crawler before analysis.
- Agencies de-noising a client’s link list so reports count real pages, not tracking variants.
- Anyone pasting messy, copy-pasted URLs full of
?utm_*and#commentjunk.
How it works
Paste your URLs
Drop in a messy list full of ?utm_source, #comment-123, and moderation parameters.
Pick what to strip
Toggle tracking params, comment hashes, comment and moderation params, Blogger paths, and dedup.
Copy the clean list
The cleaned, optionally deduplicated URLs appear instantly. Copy all or download as TXT.
Example: what goes in, what comes out
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| example.com/post?utm_source=fb&utm_campaign=x | example.com/post |
| example.com/post?replytocom=42#comment-42 | example.com/post |
| example.com/post?gclid=abc123 | example.com/post |
Three “different” URLs collapse to one real page — one credit, one row in your report.
Features
Strip tracking parameters
Remove UTM, fbclid, gclid, and other tracking params so identical links stop looking unique.
Kill comment & moderation noise
Drop comment, replytocom, unapproved, and moderation-hash params plus comment anchors that create duplicates.
Instant, client-side dedup
Everything runs live in your browser and can deduplicate the result, so a huge list is cleaned with zero waiting.
The parameters that quietly split your credits and reports
Every tracking parameter turns one page into what looks like many. To a checker or an indexer, /post, /post?utm_source=fb, and /post?gclid=123 are three URLs — so you pay to process the same page three times, and your report shows three rows for one link. The usual culprits:
- Campaign tracking —
utm_*,gclid,fbclid,mc_cid. - Comment noise —
?replytocom=and#comment-123anchors on blog links. - Session & moderation params that mean nothing to the page but everything to a diff.
Clean first, then dedupe, then index or check. Doing it in that order is what stops one page from eating three credits — feed the result straight into Remove Duplicate URLs or the Index Checker.
Limitations & privacy
- It removes noisy query parameters and hash fragments; it never changes the page path or the destination a URL points to.
- Genuinely meaningful parameters (for example
?p=123on some sites) can be part of the real URL — review before stripping everything. - Cleanup runs live in your browser, so your list is processed on your machine.
FAQ
What does Clean URLs remove?
It strips tracking parameters (UTM, fbclid, gclid and more), comment and moderation parameters, and comment-style hash fragments, then can deduplicate what remains.
Why clean URLs before indexing?
Tracking params and comment anchors make identical pages look like different URLs, which wastes credits and pollutes reports. Cleaning collapses them to one canonical link.
Does it change the destination?
No. Cleaning only removes noisy query parameters and hash fragments; the actual page each URL points to stays the same.
Is my list uploaded anywhere?
The cleanup runs live in your browser as you type, so the tool is fast and your list is processed on your machine.
